The Vivanta Taj at Goa, was a proud witness to the flamboyant inauguration of the International Fashion Week. The event, held here on 12th May, was inaugurated by Reginald Lourenco MLA, Goa in the presence of Thasveer Salim, Director of Media Waves and Williams Xavier, Director of Wild Orchid along with Newton Dias of G.V Media.
The glamourous evening, anchored by the very brilliant Roy Fernandes, commenced with Karishma Mehta’s ‘Thiana’, which showcased ‘RAVE’ collections. Designer Ankitha, followed suit with her variegated designs that did not fail to mesmerise the audience. With a clever and glowing fusion of Goa and Portuguese, the designs of the very talented Harold- “Reviving Goa” added to the hue and color of the show. His collections were on Goan cultural theme, which comprised of traditional designs and non-commercial designs created from the traditional textiles of Goa. Finally, designers Arundhati and Sumeet Das Gupta graced the event with the gorgeous bridal collections and vibrant handloom collections, respectively.
Keeping the fashion fever up high, the second evening started off with the creative designs of the GPP students. Their unity was a beautiful contribution for the ‘Beti Bachao’ campaign, held as part of the social responsibility in association with El Shaddai- a childrens NGO. The show continued with the colorful array of designs by the very talented designers like Shashi Tiwari- who showcased beach wear, casual wear, evening- gowns along with summer wear party dress. Hema Manohar came next with her brand ‘Manoharam’ from Visakhapatnam. Mary & Eilaine with their brand ‘Mary Eilaine Couture’, Goa and Naveen & Pradeep creations stole the show. The latter, famous fashion buds from Bangalore, have already created waves in the Indian fashion horizon.
The third day of the glamourous fashion week saw mariads of designs by dexterous desginers. Ninoshka Alvares Delaney, a national award winning designer from Goa, presented her brand ‘Ninoshka’. Mohan Gowda’s ‘Ziva’ was shown next, which is a label from Bangalore, well- known for its contemporary innovation. Parisha Arenja’s ‘periAREN’ from Indore came next in line. Designers Ketan Jain & Jaya Jain showcased wide range of ethnic wear, followed by Designer Sandra. The show ended with the much awaited entry of the celebrity designer Kapil Banthia from Mumbai. ‘Mrs. Earth 2016’, title winner, Priyanka Khurana Goyal was his showstopper. Each of the designers sought to bring about a uniqueness in their designs and presentation. The distinctive styles brought out by them, catered to the fashion buds of the elite audience.
Walking down the ramp, there were around fifty beautiful models, each presenting the embellishments with perfect poise and elegancy. The hair and makeup partner for the event was the renowned ‘International Makeup Academy’. And top- notch choreographers of the show, Sanjay Kannan and Sunman N.M., adeptly added color to the entire tone of the show.
There held interesting workshops, talkshows and master classes on all days of the fashion week. This created a platform where everyone could share their ideas and views on a much wider scale. New thoughts and concepts were discussed that promised new trends in the fashion arena, in near future.
Another interesting event on the final day was an audition for the beauty pageant, ‘Goddesses of Goa’.

The International Fashion Week Season 2 ended on a high note with the launch of the latest trendy silver collections from Ulhas Jewellers- ‘ Esper’ by Mrs.Earth 2016- Priyanka Khurana Goyal.
Just as promised, the organisers of the event- Media Waves, Wild Orchid and G.V. Media, gifted the audience with a scintillating aura of a fashionable evening.
